Produced by A.MA Records, this new album proposes Alberto Parmegiani both as a leader and composer, writing 7 on the eight tracks included in the tracklist.
Listening to the music the first impression is a pleasant familiarity, which means that the jazz groove so familiar to the author could be defined as a modern mainstream that steams from the modal blue note sound enriched, tough by the colors and the dynamics of the contemporary Afro-American jazz and with a look at the hip hop world.
Alberto Parmegiani is at ease with the blues lexicon and writes simple and charming themes that easily seduce the listener waiting for the soloists to complete the job.
It is the case, for instance, of the danceable “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now” or the effective “Blues Me” and even better with the excellent “L’Osservatore Involonario” where the voice of the saxophonist Gaetano Partipilo, a musician who would be an added value for any recording, reaches that moaning and inebriated sound of the best Archie Shepp.
Beside his instrument talent, Alberto Parmegiani has well metabolized a stylistic range that goes from Wes Montgomery to John Scofield. Remarkable are the interventions of Zanisi, Ponticelli and Morello who well complete this work.
